Patented by Edward Maynard, May 27, 1851, and December 6, 1859. Made by Massachusetts Arms Co., Chicopee Falls, Mass., 1860-65. Total Quantity about 20,202. The Government bought 20,002 for the Civil War. Fired a reloadable metal cartridge. This is the late model Maynard Carbine.
